23 Apr Advantages of doing phone interpretation and how to use LDT (video)
Why phone interpretation is easier?
It took some efforts for interpreters and clients alike to get used to phone interpretation services. But time, the advance of the technology and the new dynamic of a globalized world have become this service an essential part of daily activities in personal and business operations. Some of the most outstanding advantages of doing telephone interpretation over the classic method are as follow.
Availability
Classic face to face method requires the presence of the interpreter; therefore it needs booking the interpreter in advance and it is subject to availability. Phone interpretation is available 24/7 which makes it suitable for spontaneous and emergency situations. It doesn´t matter your time zone or your location.
Languages
Languages available for classic method depend on the interpreter that must be available in person which narrows the number of languages available. On the contrary, interpretation providers may sub-contract interpreters from all over the world, and it allows them to expand the number of languages they offer.
Extra costs
When the interpreter has to be present, it is necessary to cover transportation costs, but with over-the-phone interpretation it is not required as the service is provided from remote locations.
Flexibility
Phone interpretation is ideal for small conversations and quick questions as the service can be accessed easily. The classic can´t offer this flexibility.
Easy access
The easy access to a telephone makes it suitable for everyone, and it has helped interpretation services to expand widely.
Interpretation by phone is convenient for interpreters as well as for clients as they have more opportunities available and can work with different employers around the world. They can work from home with little or none investment with flexible schedules. Although classic face to face interpretation is still useful and necessary in many situations, telephone interpretation has already found its place, and it is here to stay.
